Traditional Media ‘getting’ Social Media

I was reading an article on CBC.ca this morning and scrolled down to view the comments. It took a minute for it to register in my head but it appears that CBC is using a reddit/digg style user comment system. Now you can ‘Agree’ or ‘Disagree with a posters comments.

This is a very important aspect of social media. Allowing the user’s to form an opinion of the posters comment is a powerful action in the long run. Traditionally, I would probably take the word of someone who has formed a perfect paragraph with correct grammar over someone who mashes a few words together. If I can see that Mr. perfect paragraph has 40 disagrees, he is probably wrong.
